Cooking class in Trastevere

We took a fun cooking class from Chef Andrea at Le Fate Ristorante in the Trastevere neighborhood of Rome. For the antipasto, we made fried pizza shells (which resulted in something like a sopapilla) that we then topped with a fresh tomato sauce. We also made gnocchi, saltimbocca, and a sort of chocolate souffle. Thirteen of us in a kitchen about the size of the one in our house! Met some fun people, all but two of whom were Americans.

Here's John with Chef Andrea:

We each got a personalized dessert plate. He had an impossible time with a woman in our group from OK City whose name was Talitha (pronounced tuh-LEE-thuh). He ended up thinking it was Thalinda, for reasons too complicated to go into. Her name on her plate ended up like Th~~~~~~. She was a really good sport. He also had a hard time with the name of one of the women from Melbourne - Siobhan.

Chef Andrea was a lot of fun and had no shortage of opinions on American food - "Deez-gus-teen-guh" was the pronouncement on several things we do. :-)
(Be sure to check for other posts below. I just added three new ones.)
