The winged lion is the symbol of Venice, so you see it everywhere.
This sums up Venice for me: A beautiful Italian woman sitting next to the symbol of Venice and eating gelato on the steps, which happens to be against local law.

There is a problem with dog poop in Venice. This sign translates roughly as "Dogs will be animals, but you people are barbarians. Our house is NOT your bathroom!"

ReplyDeleteThere are a couple more places that make and repair gondolas, one is on the Giudecca and there is another on Dorsoduro (Tramontin). There, something new to look for next time you're there.
