More Ravenna

The mayor of Ravenna should consider bringing in some bucks by suing a certain major Northwest coffee company, don't you think?
I guess you're supposed to pick the one that matches your mood?
I loved the mosaic flip flops on this doormat outside a mosaics school.
No snarky comment here. I really love this 5th century mosaic. It looks as bright as the day it was made. It's in the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, which per Wikipedia supposedly inspired Cole Porter to write "Night and Day," which makes me wonder if the original lyrics were "Christ and Sheep."
All over the place.
Oooh. Spooky.
No idea.
Mosaic store shelf. Guess what my favorite color is.
Kay Verelius, one of these is for you, at Sant'Apollinare in Classe. (Kay is the one who "persuaded" me to come here.)
"Oh, dear. This recipe is turning out to be harder than I had thought." (BTW, that's Dante.)
Detail of huge piece showing various techniques for working with gold mosaic tiles. At TAMO, the museum of mosaic-making.
Aren't these the sweetest little ducks? They're from a thousand years before Columbus.
Domus dei Tappeti di Pietra - House of the Stone Carpets. The (now) underground rooms of a 6th century home.
I know, right?

I've thoroughly enjoyed Ravenna. Tomorrow I leave for Rome.
